Guest posting, sometimes known as guest blogging for advertising, means writing and posting an article on somebody else’s site ideally in your own niche with the objective of getting a wider readership, boosting search engine rankings, and of course, establishing yourself as an expert in his or her field. There are many different ways to go about this. One of the most popular ways is to use guest blogging as a tool for internet advertising. The concept is quite simple. You write an article about something relevant to your site that you know something about, perhaps something you have studied or worked on, and then you include a link back to your site at the end of your article.
So how do you go about this? You start by doing a bit of research into the niche that you are interested in writing about, either online or off. This way, you will have an idea of what to write about first. For instance, if you are interested in working as a writer in a particular field, maybe copywriting, maybe e-commerce, you would want to research the sub-niche of copywriting. Once you have a good idea of what to write about, the next step is to make a short list of three or four related topics that you are relatively knowledgeable about and feel comfortable writing about.
Next you need to write a draft of the article based on the topics that you have listed. In the case of article marketing, this can be done via article directories or a good word processing program. Then you need to go over the draft to see if there are any problems with it. If there are, you can simply fix these problems, revise the article, resubmit it, and use the backlink from the original source to enter your resource box at the bottom of the page where your readers will see it.
A lot of people who write guest posts have trouble with the introduction part of the post. That’s where most people start to become frustrated. You cannot write a decent introduction unless you know something about what you are writing about. Perhaps you have some knowledge about the topic, but you might as well write a paragraph or two in which you outline the topic so that you do not get lost in the topic.
Now let us move on to some of the more important guidelines in getting a guest post approved. First, there are a few things that you should never do as a guest blogger. Never give information that you are not sure about. You may have some knowledge about the topic, but do not go into detail. Do not mention URLs in the body either, as this is considered spamming by many webmasters.
Second, you should always follow-up with your guest authors after they leave your blog. This shows them that you care about their thoughts and ideas. In this way, you show that you respect their business, not just yours. You should send them an follow-up email thanking them for their time and sharing some links to some of your blog posts that you may have written.
These are just some of the guidelines in guest posts. There are hundreds of other guidelines that you should study so that you can write excellent pitches. You will also need to study the guidelines about following-up with your authors after they leave, so that you can properly pitch your ideas.
One last tip in guest blogging is to consider your domain authority as well. Remember that if you do not have a good domain authority, no one will be able to find you. You want your domain to be relevant, to a point, but you do not want it to be too authoritative, otherwise you may get rejected from the blog sites that you are interested in. With good domain authority, you will stand out from your competition, which is very important to a lot of people.
